History of Franklin, MA

Europeans were the first to bring about the settlement of Franklin, MA in 1660. The official incorporation of the town took place during the American Revolution. However, the final official incorporation happened on 2nd March, 1778 after the town was formed from the western region of Wrentham. Benjamin Franklin donated 116 books to the town, with the residents debating as to who should be allowed to access those titles.
